From a small group of doctors in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1990 to a state-wide fraternity today, the IMA APPA Family Security Scheme has been quietly — and steadfastly — standing by doctor families across generations.
"It is not insurance — it is fraternity. We don't sell a product; we keep a promise to each other's families."
Family Security Scheme is founded in Hyderabad in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh, under the visionary leadership of Dr. N. Apparao, to support the families of demised doctor colleagues.
The scheme expands across districts of the undivided AP, with branch coordinators ensuring rapid claim disbursement to bereaved families.
An elected Managing Committee structure is formalised with Chairman, Vice-Chairmen (zonal), Hony. Secretary, Finance Secretary and Council Members — ensuring full transparency.
Following the formation of Telangana, the scheme is reorganised to continue serving IMA members across the new state of Andhra Pradesh, with the office relocated to Ongole.
An online portal is launched for member registration, term bill payments, nominee management and claim tracking — bringing transparency right to every member's screen.
With thousands of members across all districts of Andhra Pradesh, the scheme continues to honour the founding promise — supporting every doctor's family when they need it most.
The strength of the IMA APPA Family Security Scheme is the strength of every doctor member who has chosen to stand with this fraternity. Every contribution — small or large — has, over the years, sent dignity and financial relief to families during their most difficult days. The history of FSS is, in essence, the history of doctor solidarity in Andhra Pradesh.
